2027: Tinubu deserves second term to consolidate reforms – Yilwatda

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, has said President Bola Tinubu deserves a second term to consolidate his administration’s reforms. He said the Renewed Hope Agenda should be translated into greater prosperity for Nigerians.

Yilwatda spoke on Saturday at the flag-off of the APC presidential campaign at the Ranchers Bees Stadium, Kaduna, where he expressed confidence in Tinubu’s leadership and the party’s readiness for the 2027 general election.

He said the administration had demonstrated the political will to address economic challenges, strengthen infrastructure and reposition the country for sustainable growth.

“Mr President, the people have spoken, and their voice is loud and clear. Nigerians are happy. Our women are happy, our youths are happy, and the people are encouraged by your leadership. Today, we celebrate a courageous leader who has demonstrated the determination to take difficult but necessary decisions in the interest of our country.

“We are proud to present to Nigerians the most competent and credible candidate for the presidency. The APC is united, prepared and confident. The governors have spoken, and the political realignments involving the Accord Party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) are further indications of the growing national conversation around the President’s leadership and the direction of our country,” he said.

Yilwatda said the party’s 2027 campaign would focus on Tinubu’s achievements, ongoing reforms and plans for the country’s future.

He urged Nigerians to consider the administration’s efforts to address longstanding structural challenges alongside the difficulties facing the country, expressing optimism that the benefits of its reforms would become more evident over time.

“The task before us is to consolidate the gains, deepen the reforms and ensure that the promise of Renewed Hope translates into greater opportunities, improved livelihoods and shared prosperity for our people. We believe that the President deserves the opportunity to complete this work and take Nigeria to the next level,” he added.

Yilwatda presented the party’s flags to seven North-West governors seeking re-election during the flag-off.

The governors are Uba Sani (Kaduna), Abba Yusuf (Kano), Dikko Radda (Katsina), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Nasir Idris (Kebbi), Ahmad Aliyu (Sokoto) and Dauda Lawal (Zamfara).

The Independent National Electoral Commission has fixed January 16, 2027, for the presidential election.

The event was attended by Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, the First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, and Shettima’s wife, Nana.

Also present were state governors, ministers, senators, members of the House of Representatives, former governors, other government officials, the APC National Secretary, Ajibola Basiru, and party supporters.
