UEFA honours Champions League heroes Ronaldo, Buffon

Cristiano Ronaldo has been honoured with a special award to recognise his remarkable legacy as the all-time leading goal scorer in the Champions League.

Also, former Italy goalkeeper, Gianluigi Buffon has received the 2024 UEFA President’s Award.

The duo were honoured at the UEFA Champions League phase draw that took place in Monaco on Thursday evening.

Cristiano Ronaldo, a name synonymous with excellence in European football, is set to receive a prestigious honour from UEFA, solidifying his status as the UEFA Champions League’s all-time top scorer.

The special award was presented by the UEFA President, Aleksander Čeferin.

This took place during the 2024/25 UCL draw ceremony on Thursday, 29 August.

Ronaldo’s unparalleled achievements in the UEFA Champions League, including his 140 goals across 183 appearances, have redefined the competition’s history.

PUNCH Online reports that the UCL draw, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Conference League will take place respectively at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco.
