Nobody can put fire in Bauchi, Mohammed replies Wike

The Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed, has said nobody can put fire to the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party in the state.

Mohammed, a Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum, was responding to comments made by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, who threatened to truncate the existing peace in the state.

Wike had warned the PDP governors during the party’s state congress in Port Harcourt to avoid interfering in the party’s matters in Rivers State, threatening to “put fire in their states.”

Responding while addressing the National Working Committee of the PDP during a visit to Bauchi on Tuesday, Mohammed expressed his belief that Bauchi is resilient and peaceful, dismissing Wike’s comments as merely made in frustration.

Acknowledging that there had been misunderstandings in the party, the governor assured that there were no personal rifts between him and Wike.

He noted that “Nobody can put fire in Bauchi. Even my friend said that he’s only saying it because he’s annoyed. We may have said something that irritated him, but it’s not personal. My friend is my friend, and leadership is leadership.”

Bala expressed excitement over the visit, which he described as unsolicited, saying it demonstrated the unity and leadership values of the PDP.

He praised the NWC for its commitment to upholding the values set by the party’s founding fathers and emphasized the need for dialogue, rule of law, and mutual respect within the party.

The governor commended the NWC members for their roles in ensuring stability in the party despite the challenges it faces.

He expressed his belief that the PDP remains strong and capable of overcoming internal crises through effective leadership.

Speaking on behalf of the NWC, the National Legal Adviser of the party, Kamaludeen Adeyemi, extended the party’s goodwill and congratulated Governor Bala on his achievements in Bauchi.

Adeyemi highlighted the governor’s outstanding leadership and performance, including the newly constructed state secretariat and various development projects.
