FG proposes March for 2027 UTME, April–July for NECO, WAEC, others

The Federal Government has proposed a harmonised 2027 examination timetable, with the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination set for March 2027, and results of NECO, WAEC, NABTEB and NBAIS targeted for August 2027.

The government says the plan will allow eligible candidates to begin tertiary admission processes by September 2027.

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board shared the timetable on its social media platforms on Thursday.

The UTME is proposed for March 15 to 25, followed by the National Examinations Council’s Senior School Certificate Examination from April 1 to May 14.

The West African Senior School Certificate Examination will run from May 11 to June 18.

The National Business and Technical Examinations Board is scheduled for June 1 to July 5, and the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies for June 10 to July 9.

“The Federal Government is working with examination bodies to align the 2027 examination timetable and ensure the timely release of results, enabling eligible candidates to begin tertiary admission processes by September 2027,” JAMB said.

The initiative aims to “Minimise examination timetable clashes,” “Improve coordination among examination bodies,” “Ensure timely processing and release of results,” and “Enable eligible candidates to commence tertiary admission processes by September 2027.”

JAMB said the dates were proposed timelines, not confirmed final dates, and urged candidates to follow official announcements from the examination bodies.
